Blog Challenge, COMPLETE!

Hey guys, I am so excited to say that I have FINALLY completed the Blog Challenge I have set forth for myself! I have had bronchitis then the stomach bug so I was extremely happy to get to go down this weekend and to start and finish my cousin Taylor’s new room! I figured I could write a lot or I could post pictures.. and it would be a lot easier to just post pictures!
A few why’s:
-Why did I paint the dresser in black and with chalkboard paint.. WELL Miss Taylor thinks that permanent markers are cool and that her dresser is a very large sheet of paper. So what is the perfect way for her to draw away BUT in a clean and furniture safe manner!? Of course chalkboard paint!
-Why did I hang the curtains in the room.. Taylors room is in the basement and there are not walls up separating all of the different areas so I thought I would give her a sense of space and privacy by adding the curtains. You would NOT believe the difference that they make!
-Why did I hang the frames with twine.. I did this because the walls are cinderblock and it was a lot easier to hang them from the beams, AND it gave the room the room a cute touch.

I was crazy excited to do this because I wanted to prove that it could be done while penny pinching and it could be done on a budget!
If you look at the before and after of this room you can see the amount of changes that occurred. New desk, desk chair, new bed, bedding, little décor, curtains, rugs, and so many other things! I will say that I rummaged through my own home so I could see what I had that I could up-cycle for this project and low and behold I found loads of frames that I painted and then I searched online for printable’s and that is where all of the pictures came from.
The bed, bedding, desk and desk chairs were all from Ikea as well. I also gave her my old desk (which was in fantastic condition) and my old desk chair. Doing that saved me $30.00.
I shopped on a tight budget and bought A LOT of things on sale which is the best way to shop. what you can do, make sure you reuse anything that is still useable! search your house for things that you can use and that will help you save on your budget. and PLEASE shop around. Don’t get me wrong I love expensive things like pottery barn and you CAN find fantastic deals if you shop around, make sure you spend at least some time seeing what’s out there!
If you are wondering
My OVERALL amount that I paid out of pocket for this room was $151.00
