A Very Sweet, Very Southern Dessert (Recipe)

Okay Im all about the easy laid back southern life style, but of course I am because this is where I am from and it is what I am used to.  Of course the southern states are some of the most unhealthy states in the country Not only due to the very fattening (i.e. the dessert Im about to show you) foods and a slower paced lifestyle.  We like the simpler things in life like sitting on a front porch and chewing the fat (Gossiping), (very) sweet tea, BBQ's, sweet lemonade and of course fried foods.  This recipe is a traditional southern dessert and you better be prepared because not only is it addicting BUT it is very very sweet.

                                                                          Chess Bars
What you will need:
1 Box of yellow cake mix
3 Eggs
8 oz of softened cream cheese
1/2 cup (1 stick of butter) melted
4 cups (1lb) Powdered sugar

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

1. Pour the cake batter into a mixing bowl, add 1 egg and your 1/2 cup of melted butter.  MIX INGREDIENTS

2. Pour into a 9x13 baking dish and press down like you would with a pie crust (only on the bottom not up the sides)

3.  Mix softened cream cheese, 2 eggs and 4 cups powdered sugar use a mixer to blend until smooth.

4. Pour creamy mixture on top of the cake batter crust.

5. Place in the oven to bake for 50-60 minutes until the top is golden brown.

6. After removing from oven let set for a couple of hours to give it time to set.

7. Cut into squares.

I reccomend baking this the day before you need it because it sets up and thickens over night!
